Mt. Kurama's Experience

 

From Dr. Usui’s preliminary lecture on Universal Healing Reiki.

 “…So to summarise, we see that in most religions in the world there is a utilisation of healing forces and that these healing forces are not limited only to one form of religious practice, but are generally successful when invoked. Therefore, we must assume that in our universe there exists some form of healing and life-restoring energy that is non-sectarian and can be utilised by all. This is what I have based my Reiki practice upon, and its teachings, and this realisation I received during my protracted meditation retreat on Mt Kururama, on which I shall now speak in the next section of this discourse.

 While meditating on Mt Kururama, it became very apparent to me that supernal healing is divided into basically three sections, with a forth section appended. Now when the blue sphere manifested to me in my meditation, I quickly realised that this was the energy of healing itself. This divine energy can heal or adjust the basic vibratory matrix of the person. Let me explain:

We are all, at another level of our existence, vibrations. When an illness occurs it is due to a maladjustment at this level of human existence. This maladjustment causes an illness to manifest on the physical plane. If conditions are correct, then the healing energy of the blue sphere may be manifested to correct this maladjustment and thus bring about healing on the physical plane. I call this blue energy form “Rei” and when you have been attuned to the First Degree by my methodology, then you will be able to utilise this energy. The second sphere, which I call “Ki” or “Chi”, which is pronounced “Ki” as well, is the actual life force of the individual and of the universe. Now this manifests as a red sphere and with it you are able to restore lost life force and to augment the life force within the being. The third sphere is crystal clear and it is subsidiary to the other two. This force is for purification of negative action and must be used as an adjunct before the employment of the blue or red sphere.

 These spheres manifested before me like bubbles rising on water and then I became aware of their import and the methodology with which to employ them. First, the crystalline sank into my hari and all defilements and negativity were purified. Then the lapis lazuli blue sphere sank into my hari; all of my diseases and injuries were healed. Finally, the red sphere entered my hari and my life force was strengthened, augmented and extended. Then there appeared before me a golden sphere marked with a DAIKO MAYO in brilliant crimson. This sank into me and bestowed upon me the power to impart this healing modality to everyone.

 Now of course as Medicine Dharma practitioners we know that all healing energy emanates from Medicine King Buddha, and that the intention of the mind of Medicine King Buddha is that all beings be healed of sickness and suffering, not just Buddhists.

 Therefore, in the various other religious systems He manifests in different forms to make his healing possible. It become clear to me on Mt. Kururama that it was necessary that in addition to my Buddhist healing teachings I was being compelled to formulate a system which non- Buddhists could utilize.

 The four spheres in their respective colours arouse from the void like bubbles rising from water, each marked with syllables, and it become apparent to me that this was the way in which the Buddhist deities could be presented to non-Buddhists and because of the infinite and vast compassion of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, in this way they would make the healing and life restoring energies available for all to utilize. Thus of course you know that the crystal sphere is the energy of purification manifested by Mahavairochana, that the blue sphere represents the healing activities of Medicine King Buddha, the red sphere is life restoring and prolonging energies of Amitayus, while the golden sphere represents the power of Buddha Mahavairochana acting as an initiatory master in the tantric rite.

Thus you can understand the significance of the spheres, why they were manifested to me, and how they represent a firm connection with the deities of the (Men Chhos) Reiki tradition. When dealing with non-Buddhists it is necessary that they be presented in that way; in the same manner they were presented to me on Mt. Kururama. This was done Ibelieve by the Buddhas in order to circumvent the structures which Christianity, Judaism, and Islam place upon their adherents.
